Soda Can Cupcakes

Earlier today I was thinking about my pantry and how much baking goods I have in it. So I decided to make some Soda Can Cupcakes. I crossed my fingers and hoped they would turn out good and to my surprise they did. Hip hip hooray 3 cheers for me. All you need is 2 things. Your choice of cake mix and a can of soda. Yes that's it.

I used the Holiday Confetti Mix from Aldi and a can of Sprite or as my mom calls it "Esprite" hehe. You can't really taste the sprite and only a tiny little bit of lemon-lime kicks in once you take the second bite.

Before you start preheat oven to 350

Pour  the can of soda to dry cake mix, make sure the soda is room temperature

Mix until the clumps are gone
Fill in your cups 1/2 full with the batter and put in the oven for 18-20 minutes
Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting. My piping tool just broke so it's a good ol' spoon for me.
I don't know what's in the sprite but it made the cupcake fluffy.

Make your cupcakes pretty and share with friends and family.

Food Inspired Jewelry, Fashion and Home Decor.

Food Inspired Jewelry

These Jewelry Designs are definitely making me hungry and yes I just had a yummy piece of chocolate strawberry torte I made thank you very mucho but after eating I had the urge to search for food decor. I remember running into a pizza sleeping bag a while back and wondered if there was other stuff designed around food I began to search. To my surprise there are hundreds of products. I've snagged some pictures of what I like. I can't credit anyone on the jewelry designs since google didn't give me a source. So if anyone comes across this post and these are your designs please let me know I want to buy a couple things. OK here we go.

Isn't the jewelry is adorable? I want to get the steak and butcher necklace for my friend Janet since she loves her some steak and I want them all but especially  love the egg and waffle studs. Oh and those Mojito earnings.

Food Fashion Fun

The color, texture and shape of food has inspired a collection of artists and fashion designers to create clothing inspired by culinary creations.  Hunger Pains Food Fashion is a project photographed by Ted Sabarese and created by a team of 15 designers led by Ami Goodheart.  Two Project Runway alums, Daniel Feld and Wesley Nault, wove the artichoke dress shown below. The model stood for six hours while the duo crafted the dress leaf by leaf before the first photograph was taken.  My kids think it's a bit silly but I think it's Breathtaking work!

These adorable kids are not part of the collection above but if someone makes my twins a bacon suit, I will love you forever. How stinkin cute does this tiny trio look.

Crochet Burger Dress, Sunny Side up Egg T-Shirt and a Bacon Scarf? The madness doesn't stop hehe

One other major goal not listed above for 2012 is to organizing my home top to bottom. It's time to declutter. I've organized my medicine and baking cabinets about a month ago and they still look amazing. It's nice to have a designated space for everything and it makes it easy to locate and put away once your done using it. My next task is the twins closet. Kids grow so fast and with two of my own I've over looked all the clothes, shoes and toys that have taken over the space. It's time to revamp, organize and make that closet pretty. Once everything is labeled and organized I hope the kids keep it that way. Crossing my fingers.

Yesterday while starting the kids room I didn't realize how much clothes and shoes they had. I separated stuff into 3 piles. Donate, Toss and Big (clothes that is too big for them). I had a box full of clothes with tags still on them from last yrs. b-day party. Gracias a Dios, a su mami and friends and family no les ase falta nadita. The pile of clothes you is to donate and those shoes and chanclas well they will be tossed. I had to stop because it was almost midnight and I was exhausted. I still have a ton to do.

We found an old spider-man 3 mask in the closet. My dad got it for Gincarlo one day when they took a walk down 26th street. I think it looks funny on him.

No more baby hanger the kids say. No more plastic hangers I say.

Gincarlo keeps me entertained. He found some gloves that did not fit him anymore and he asked me if he can cut them. Look mommy a Michael Jackson hand he says.

After all that, this is what the kids have left in shoes. I think it's plenty.

On 01/01/2012 Gloria, Christina (First Picture) and I took Carla to Buffalo Wild wings to celebrate Carla's B-Day. We had some beers, laughs and planned for more girl dates in the future.

On 01/02/2012 After all the chaos with parties. We sat down and finally relaxed at home. You can see in the picture the twins are cozy with Phinean and Ferb. They are so into that show right now and I must admit I sit and watch it with them. Phineas and ferb rock.

On that note it's time again, time start planning the twins B-Day Party. I know I know some people think I'm crazy they don't turn 7 until May and yes my plans are to take them to Disneyworld in July even thought they dont want to ( my kids aren't normal) but they still need to celebrate with friends and family here in chicago. So I have about 5 months to plan and save. I have already picked a theme can you take a guess?.........yup a Phineas and Ferb party. They love it and well it's perfect for them now. If you haven't seen the cartoon you need to "get with it" like my twins would say.

I'll leave you with a short video of the cartoon and boy my kids still sing thing song. It's contagious, I catch myself singing to it at work sometimes.
